Hello fellow traveler!
I’m Luise, the heart & soul of this blog. I love to experience new places and cultures, so if you do too, you have come to the right place.
Read more about it here.
Whether you are an Adventure Seeker or Nature Enthusiast, Off-road Venturer or Culture Explorer, this place is for you.
The mission of Some Place Elsewhere is to help people around the globe to leave their daily grind behind and get out there to discover the world. I want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and become an explorer who is infinitely curious about other places, cultures and people. Because…
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.
Here at Some Place Elsewhere you will find all the tools you need to start traveling. It offers the knowledge that will help you to start experiencing the fulfilling, authentic and memorable journeys you have always been longing for.
Some Place Elsewhere focuses on travel off the beaten path. Whether it is actual off-road driving, backpacking to unusual destinations or exploring Europe’s hidden gems on weekend trips, I always strive to authentically experience a destination. I am big on budget travel, too, because let’s be honest, students are always out of money.
On this blog you can expect diverse content every week, from destination guides and personal travel stories to inspirational videos and valuable tips and tricks.
Now that you’ve heard so much about Some Place Elsewhere, you might be curious about the person behind all this. So let me introduce myself: My name is Luise and I am terribly passionate about travel. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a family that valued openness, encouraged curiosity and traveled often. With the years my thirst for adventure grew bigger and I took every opportunity to journey. When I was 17 I got my first job in order to be able to afford traveling abroad for a year after graduation. But eight month of backpacking through Southeast Asia and New Zealand should only be the beginning of my lifelong adventure.
Currently I am studying computer science in Potsdam, Germany, and continue to discover the world on weekends, during semester breaks or whenever I find the time.
The idea of Some Place Elsewhere had been with me for over a year before I finally dared to start this project. I thought, what a waste to keep all this knowledge to myself when I could help others with it. More than half a year of hard work went into preparations before Some Place Elsewhere finally launched on September 1st, 2017.
If you stayed with me until now, I’m sure you’re at least a teensy bit interested in becoming an adventurer yourself, right?
Awesome! Big things lay ahead of you, so I’ll make it easy for you to get there. Just follow these five steps and you’re good to go.
